Changing the IP Scheme on an EqualLogic array
When is this needed:
When a client initially installs the array on the LAN b/c
there was no SAN subnet carved out.
Procedure:
NOTE: This requires downtime
PREP
i. Line up all necessary IP addressed for arrays
and hosts
ii. Verify DG of new subnet - ping it
iii. Verify routing to new subnet - put a test interface on
the subnet & ping it from LAN
IMPLEMENT
1. Disconnect all volumes, shut all virtual machines down
2. Via the GUI, modify 1 of the network interfaces to the new
subnet
3. Via the GUI, modify the Group IP address (and DG) to the
new subnet
4. GUI goes down at this point
5. Move all cabling to new VLAN ports
6. Change remaining interface IPs on array
7. Change Host network interface IPs
8 Change iSCSI initiator target IPs
8. Reconnect volumes / rescan SAN
9. Power up everything / verify volumes are connected
